Based in Turku, Turun Nappulaliiga, or TuNL, is one of the biggest football clubs in Finland. We have football teams for all ages from children to adults: for boys and girls, for men and women.

Our district teams operate across Turku and offer grassroots football for children ages 5–12, helping introduce them to the sport in a fun and supportive environment. The focus is usually on learning basic skills, teamwork and enjoying the game. One of our main values is to keep our costs as low as possible so that every child has an equal opportunity to play and develop as a footballer.

We also have high level competitive teams in youth age groups playing at the highest level of Finnish football in their own age groups.

New players are welcome to join the club any day of the year.

Playing and training at Turun Nappulaliiga

District teams train in their own district or on the closest available pitch or facility. These teams are coached by volunteer parents of the team’s players. Usually, teams have 1–2 training sessions per week depending on the coaches.

As a big club, Turun Nappulaliiga can arrange its own internal leagues for different age groups. These district team leagues run all year round with all matches played in Turku.

Our competitive teams have 2–5 training sessions per week. They also play regional league matches and participate in tournaments across Finland and, in some cases, even abroad.

Fees and payments

Our fees are very affordable, and we offer a high cost-to-quality ratio.

You can find a list of our club’s fees here. These fees include insurance, a playing license (Pelipassi) provided by the Finnish Football Association (Suomen Palloliitto), a certain number of training sessions, a team shirt given on loan by the club, and league matches.

There will be some other fees depending on your team’s activity. There are also referee fees, tournament fees and other fees.

We use the MyClub platform for player registration. Please register here.

Please note that by paying the first instalment of the club’s annual fee, you commit to paying the whole fee for the ongoing season.

Players who are not Finnish citizens

FIFA and the Finnish FA require a copy of the player’s passport or an ID card from every player with a foreign nationality. If the player is 10–17 years old, more documents are required. Your team manager (joukkueenjohtaja) will inform you of the specific requirements.

Make sure you use BOOSTII benefit

The city of Turku provides all 7–19-year-olds living in Turku a benefit called BOOSTII. You can use this benefit to pay the club’s annual fee.

BOOSTII benefit:

Ages 7–11: 160 €/year

Ages 12–19: 260 €/year

What is your role as a parent?

Make sure your child is on time for training sessions and matches.
Inform the coach if your child is not coming to a training session or match.
Make sure your child has a ball (properly filled with air), football shoes, shin guards, and a filled water bottle for every training session and match.
Make sure your child’s team has your contact information and keep that information up to date.
Remember that coaches and team managers are volunteers. They are players’ parents, just like you. Trust them: they are doing their best.
Be willing to help if asked.
Be supportive at the sidelines. During matches, parents stay and cheer at the side of the pitch opposite to the side where the coaches and players are.
Support all the players, not just the players in your child’s team.
Make sure your child has had something to eat before training sessions and matches.
Show interest in your child’s hobby. Ask them if they had fun, what did they think was fun and why, and if they didn’t have fun, ask them why.
Make sure you have made all payments required by the club and your child’s team.
